Welcome from Mrs. Alums
Dear Families and Students,
Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! We at Podesta Ranch Elementary School are excited to have you at our school!
I am excited to have joined the Podesta Ranch family and look forward to a fabulous year. A little about me. I am the proud mom of three amazing boys. They are 15, 9 and 3 years old. I have been in education in the state of California for 17 years, worked in 5 school districts in the Central Valley, and have been a teacher, secretary, instructional coach, and Vice Principal. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Montana and my Master’s Degree from CSU-Stanislaus. Although I have been in California since January of 1998, I am tied to Montana for forever. The saying is, “You can take the girl out of Montana, but you can’t take Montana out of the girl!”
Some goals that we are working on here at Podesta Ranch are improving our attendance rate, improving our discipline data, and creating life-long learners. In order to assist us with these goals, please make sure your child comes to school every day and is here all day. Please make appointments for after school. Review the school handbook with your child to make sure that they fully understand the expectations that we have at Podesta Ranch. In order to become a life-long learner, all of our students need to be avid readers; please make sure your child is reading every night for at least 20 minutes or that you are reading to him/her!
We look forward to building on a school climate that encourages the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship!
We will continue to focus on the Common Core State Standards through district adopted curriculum ensuring that our teachers are fully trained.
One way for you to support Podesta Ranch is to become a member of the PTA. The PTA uses part of its dues to sponsor activities such as the Harvest Festival, Movie Nights, and the Character Counts store. The PTA is an important part of Podesta Ranch and encourages the active participation from all parents.
The teachers and staff are looking forward to continuing a culture of success for all students and building partnerships with the community as we start off the 2015-2016 school year!
